Nifty ideas you can use to build a better business

90-Day Marketing

Jay Lipe, CEO of Emerge Marketing, offers this marketing tip for small businesses: “Your customers, prospects and champions (those who refer business your way) should hear from you every 90 days. People are just too busy to remember you otherwise. If you don’t follow the 90-day rule, you risk getting shouted down by any competitor of yours who does.” To get more tips, read Lipe’s article 10 Commandments of Successful Marketing, available for free at his Web site.

Retailers Beware

Small retailers can boost sales by making sure product information on their Web sites is up to date. A recent study conducted for WebCollage, a New York-based company that provides content integration services, found that the ability to research products online is important to retail shoppers. But of the online shoppers polled, 44 percent said they felt retail Web sites didn’t offer complete product information. A third of respondents were concerned that online product content was out of date. The lesson? Keep your product info current and offer assurances to Web visitors that they’re getting the latest and greatest information available.
