Finding A Franchise

Franchises can be a great way for entrepreneurs to build a successful business. If you need help finding just the right one, check out the February 2005 issue of Entrepreneur magazine. It lists North America’s 105 fastest growing franchises during the past year. The list includes franchises from Curves to Quizno’s Subs, so you’re sure to find one that matches your interest. You can also access the franchise list at www.entrepreneur.com.

Interview No-Nos

When it’s time to hire your first (or second or third) employee, remember that the interview process works both ways. Job candidates will be judging you and your business as a potential employer. To make sure you don’t flub the interview and lose a potential top-notch employee, avoid these common pitfalls:

  • Don’t keep candidates waiting. Show respect by being on time for the interview.

  • Don’t go into an interview unprepared. Read the application and resume before you sit down with the job candidate.

  • Don’t allow interruptions during the interview. Find a quiet place for the interview and keep distractions at bay.
