Know-how you need to succeed

Avoid Chargebacks

Chargebacks can be deadly for small retailers. A chargeback is a credit card charge that’s disputed by the card holder or the card issuer. When you’re hit with a chargeback, your merchant account is debited not only by the amount of disputed charge, but also a fee. Taking one security step can help you avoid chargebacks. Any time customers order merchandise over the telephone or online, ask for the three-digit number (the CVV/CVC) on the backs of their cards. Getting the number usually means that buyers have a legitimate credit card in their possession.
