Nifty ideas you can use to build a better business

Resignation Routine

Don’t act surprised when your employees turn in resignations. Chances are, they’ve given you plenty of hints that they’re searching for a new job. Here are four ways that employees unintentionally signal their intention to leave:

  1. They request vacation days one at a time. (Hint: They’re going on job interviews.)

  2. They begin taking lunch breaks at different times. (Hint: They’re going on more job interviews.)

  3. Their production drops off. (Hint: They’ve already made the mental move to new jobs.)

  4. They stop volunteering ideas. (Hint: They no longer care about maintaining their current jobs.)

Local Shopping

You might want to trade your local newspaper advertising for online search engine advertising. About 70 percent of U.S. households now use the Internet as an information source when shopping locally for products and services. This puts the Internet on par with newspapers as a local shopping information resource. Those finding come from a 2005 study conducted by The Kelsey Group and ConStat Inc. Results from the study also indicate that the Internet is poised to surpass newspapers as a local advertising medium in the near future.
