About 70 percent of U.S. households now use the Internet as an information source when shopping locally for products and services. This puts the Internet on par with newspapers as a local shopping information resource. Those finding come from a 2005 study conducted by The Kelsey Group and ConStat Inc. Results from the study also indicate that the Internet is poised to surpass newspapers as a local advertising medium in the near future.
