Nifty ideas you can use to build a better business

Perk Up Employees

Handing out rewards for a job well done is an effective employee perk. But go one step further. Acknowledge the employee’s performance to your whole staff. And then ask the employee to explain to co-workers how she completed the task. Where did she get the new idea for streamlining a process? How did she save a big account? Sharing the story gives the employee the spotlight … and encourages other workers to turn in tip-top performances.

E-Mail Tip

Before you send that next e-mail message, perhaps you should pick up the telephone instead. E-mail is perfect when you need to communicate quickly. It’s more time efficient to simply place a phone call. Don’t send an e-mail that runs on for more than one or two paragraphs. The phone serves better for lengthy conversations and communication. And don’t send e-mail if the content is highly confidential. Again, pick up the phone
