Nifty ideas you can use to build a better business

Easy Opt-In

Savvy Web marketers know to offer an opt-in mailing list for visitors to a Web site. But, you may not know that the placement of the offer makes a significant difference in the number of responses you receive. Always place the “join our mailing list” offer above the fold—that area of the Web page readers see without having to scroll down. The high visibility grabs attention and makes it easy for visitors to sign up for your mailing list.

Know Before You Go

Before you take off on that next business trip, collect all of your trip information in one place for easy access. Examples of items you want to collect include:

  • Calendar with dates, times and locations of meetings

  • Contact information for all of the people you plan to meet with

  • Final versions of meeting agendas

  • Documents you’ll need for presentations

  • Online access numbers, either local or national, so you can check e-mail

  • Hotel confirmation numbers

You can stash all of this information a single file on your notebook computer or in a single folder full of hard copy. In either case, having the information in one place will save you time and keep you organized during your trip.
