Nifty ideas you can use to build a better business

More E-Mails Opened On Friday

Small businesses that depend on e-mail campaigns to communicate with customers should consider Friday for send out day. E-mails sent on Friday had the highest average open rate in 2005, according to the 2005 Response Rate Study by on-demand e-mail service provider ExactTarget. The study found that Friday had the highest average open rate, but Sunday had the year’s highest average click-through rate, or number of times someone clicked on a link in the e-mail, followed by Friday. However, Sunday was a consistently low performer for open rates.

Words And Pictures Sell

When selling products and services online, don’t depend on photos to do all of the work. Photos can give visitors a view of a product, but only words can describe the exact dimensions and weight. Do you use photos of employees on your Web site? Add a clever caption that talks about those employees to let visitors know that they’re not just looking a models. Are you offering a new product that’s not familiar to Web site visitors? Take time to write a few words describing the product’s features and benefits.
