GET CONNECTED TIPS
Nifty ideas you can use to build a better business

Sweet Dreams

The National Sleep Foundation’s annual Sleep in America survey consistently finds that Americans don’t get enough sleep. If you’re feeling like a zombie during the day instead of an alert small-business owner, try these five tips to get a better night’s sleep:

  • Television is stimulating, not calming. Turn it off when you’re trying to sleep.

  • Minimize light. Darkness acts as a signal to the body to prepare for sleep.

  • Control the temperature. The ideal room temperature for sleeping is 65 degrees.

  • Resist taking naps. For healthy adults, naps can make falling asleep at night more difficult.

  • Avoid food and exercise right before bed. Give your body at least three hours to recover from meals and rigorous exercise before going to sleep.

Bank On It

The search for a good bank may be getting easier for small-business owners. A recent report from Change Sciences Group, a financial services benchmarking firm, revealed what banks are doing online to win small-business accounts. Trends include:

  • Almost 75 percent of the banking sites make it easy for prospects to compare deposit account offerings online

  • More than 60 percent of the sites reviewed offer some form of online resource center for small-business customers

  • Almost 40 percent of the banks reviewed accept online applications for small-business deposit accounts

  • More than 30 percent of the banks reviewed support some form of automated product suggestion for small-business prospects
