Write A Winning Business Plan
Article 2: Executive Summary

The executive summary is a condensed version of your whole business plan. It outlines your goals and objectives. It establishes a mission and vision for your company. It proves that you’ve got a viable business idea, and that you’re the person who can make it successful.

Although this is the first section of your plan, you might want to write it last. After you’ve completed the entire plan, you’ll have a better focus on your key ideas and strategies.

And that’s exactly what you want to impart in the two pages you devote to the executive summary. You want to highlight your company’s benefits. You want to show how your product or service solves a problem for customers and fills a need in the marketplace.

Most people who read your business plan will read this section first. Indeed, they may read only this section. Potential employees, suppliers, customers and your business consultants will turn to these pages to get a grasp of what your business is all about. So you’ve to grab their attention.

Be concise when you write the summary. But also be compelling and persuasive. Create excitement about your venture by sharing your passion for the business.
