Write A Winning Business Plan
Article 1: How A Plan Helps Your Business

A business plan is like a road map that stretches into the future of your business. It points you in the direction of success. It also alerts you to obstacles and shows you how to navigate around them. A realistic business plan gives you a clear vision of your business—one year from now, five years, 10 years.

Creating a business plan gets you thinking about what you want from your enterprise. You’ll need to answer tough questions, like:

  • What kind of lifestyle do you want for yourself?

  • How many hours a week do you want to work?

  • How large do you want your business to be?

  • How much money do you want to make?

  • When do you want to retire?

You’ll need to answer these questions—and more like them—honestly and realistically. And you’ll need to review your plan every couple of years. Business changes. Life changes. So some of your original questions and answers will change, too.
