Article 2: Play “What If?”
Based on the results of your home office security audit, play a game of “what if?” as it relates to your level of home office security.
“It’s a simple game, but it can have dramatic implications in the high-stakes risks of home office safety and security,” says Jeff Zbar, author of “Safe@Home: Seven Keys to Home Office Security.”
What if a burglar or intruder confronted you at your front door as you arrived home? What if a “repairman” knocks on your door and asks to come inside to check a “gas leak” or “electrical problem”? What if a natural disaster strikes? What if you were to lose all of your data to a computer crash?
“Are you prepared for these kinds of scenarios and dozens more like them?” asks Zbar. “You should envision the specific vulnerabilities you face in any what if scenario you can imagine and then formulate a plan of escape and remedy.”
