Nifty ideas you can use to build a better business

Kids & Biz

Kids and home businesses don’t make a natural match. But, holding a family meeting can help you happily cohabitate.

Use the family meeting to discuss such issues as:

  • Why and when the home office is off-limits to kids

  • Who’s on duty for child care

  • When buddies can come to the house to play

  • When the kids can (and can’t) take care of noisy chores, like vacuuming

  • Times when you simply can’t be interrupted

  • What constitutes an emergency interruption

  • At what times you’ll be available to play with the family instead of work

  • Who can (and can’t) answer the phone during business hours

Save On Promotions

Promotional products can help boost your business. They can also bust your marketing budget unless you maximize your investment. Here are some tips to help you make the most of promotional products:

  • Set a specific goal for your promotional products to help determine the quantity you can use

  • Always consider the limited shelf life of products and don’t buy more than you need

  • Include indirect expenses, such as shipping or additional graphic design, in your budget

  • Calculate the per item cost to make sure you’re getting a good value for your marketing dollar

  • Stick to your budget
