Picnic Reminders

Company picnics with employees. A barbecue with colleagues and clients. Summer get-togethers can be a time to put professional relationships on a more personal level. But don’t be fooled. Even during social gatherings, certain workplace lines can’t be crossed. Follow these tips:

  • Don’t talk about work

  • Don’t tell off-color jokes

  • Give handshakes, not hugs

  • Drink sparingly


Bow-Wow

If you’re looking for new perks to offer your employees, consider dogs. A recent poll by the American Pet Products Manufacturers found that nearly one in five U.S. companies allows pets at works. A majority of those polled believe there are benefits to having pets at work, such as relieving stress, improving relationships with co-workers and creating a happier work environment. In a 2006 survey by Dogster and SimplyHired, 70 percent of dog owners said that they believe a dog-friendly work place is an important employee benefit.
