Nifty ideas you can use to build a better business

Holiday Retail

Retailers can expect a subdued holiday shopping season, says the National Retail Federation (NRF). The group expects retail sales to increase just 5 percent over last year. By comparison, holiday sales rose 6.1 percent in 2005. Still, your retail shop could out sell the competition by delivering three things that please holiday shoppers:

  1. Offer gift cards or gift certificates that shoppers can buy as presents

  2. Be sure customer service is in tip-top shape, with plenty of knowledgeable and friendly staff

  3. Bundle several products to provide gift boxes and baskets

Personal Workout Room

Fitness junkies who don’t want to miss their workouts when they travel on business might want to book a WestinWORKOUT room. Each of these specialized hotel rooms allows guests to maintain their fitness routines by working out in the privacy of their own room. All Westin Hotels in North America offer the workout rooms. The rooms feature plenty of equipment for the fitness-minded:

  • Indoor cycle or treadmill

  • Reebok Pilates & cycle DVDs

  • Adjustable dumbbells and Reebok core training equipment
