Holiday Leftovers
Online retailers have a new holiday term to remember from the 2006 shopping season: “eFriday.” A consumer survey of retail spending commissioned by Deloitte & Touche USA LLP found that 20 percent of people shopped online the day after Thanksgiving 2006 than shopped online on the Monday after Thanksgiving, so called “Cyber Monday.” Says Pat Conroy, vice chairman and national managing principal of Deloitte’s Consumer Business practice: “With more high-speed connections in homes, consumers were more likely to shop on Friday and less likely to wait until Monday to use high-speed connections at work. There are lessons to be learned for shopping sites in terms of heavy usage periods.”
Still Making A List
No doubt you saw all of the best and worst lists rounded up by the media for the end of the year. Worst Dressed Movie Stars of 2006. And on and on. Take a hint. The media loves lists. So, make your own small-business list for 2007 and get some publicity. Distribute your list just as you would a press release. Some ideas:
A jeweler could send “Top 10 Gifts for Men on Valentine’s Day”
A real estate agent could compile “The 7 Best Ways To Sell Your House This Spring”
A printer could offer “The 8 Most Important Elements When Choosing A Logo”
A CPA could choose “The Top 10 Financial Facts Your Family Needs To Know”
