Resolve To Reduce Stress

If you’re not working to reduce stress for your employees, your small business will suffer. In a Pew Research Center survey conducted in 2006, 69 percent of workers said job stress is worse than it was a decade ago. Employment and insurance data confirm that up to 80 percent of U.S. workers feel stress, with 40 percent viewing their work as very or extremely stressful. The National Safety Council estimates that 1 million employees are absent each workday as a result of stress. Along with absenteeism, stress causes:

  • Illnesses

  • Diminished productivity

  • Accidents

  • Mistakes

  • Job dissatisfaction

  • Burnout

  • High turnover

  • Soaring health insurance premiums

One Sale Leads To Another

Don’t let consumers off the hook after their first purchase with your small business. Give customers many opportunities to buy from you. Let’s say you operate a maid service and clean clients’ homes twice a month. Some of those clients might want special spring cleaning or clean up after a big party. Or perhaps you run a retail ice cream shop. Some of your customers might be interested in buying in bulk for special occasions or having flavors uniquely mixed and packaged as gifts. Think of ways you can sell once, twice, three times to your existing customers, and your profits will soar.
