Ad Agency Tips

Before you plunk down a check to hire an advertising agency, follow these four tips:

  1. Explain your specific marketing goals and make sure the agency shares those goals

  2. Get past the agency representative and meet the person or people who will actually be working on your ad or marketing materials

  3. Start slowly by working with the agency on one brochure or a logo before you commit to other projects

  4. Always ask to see sketches, copy ideas and layout samples before giving the go-ahead for full production of your marketing pieces

Help For Veterans

Service-disabled veterans are self-employed at a rate significantly lower than the veteran population as a whole. That’s the finding from the study “Self-Employment in the Veteran and Service-Disabled Veteran Population,” released in 2007 by the Office of Advocacy of the U.S. Small Business Administration. But assistance is available from the Association for Service Disabled Veterans (ASDV). The nonprofit organization promotes entrepreneurship for service-disabled veterans. Its programs include helping members develop their businesses as well as find contracting opportunities in the private sector and government.
