Nifty ideas you can use to build a better business

Tech No-No

Got your eyes set on a new server or the latest software upgrade? Before you buy, run the numbers. If the technology you want can’t help you decrease costs or increase profits, why spend the money? Look at technology as an investment in your small business. Calculate what your return on that investment will be before you write out the check. If the numbers don’t justify the investment, maybe your money would be better spent in other areas, like marketing or funding a retirement plan.

Hot Button Marketing

Every customer has a reason for buying from you. That reason is known as a hot button. Some people hire lawn services because they hate mowing or are physically unable to do it themselves. Others simply don’t have time. Pitch your solutions to those hot buttons. Try a series of direct mail postcards or small ads that target the same audience. Mail the postcards or run the ads in a short timeframe, like a few weeks or a few months. In each one, focus your message on just one hot button. Pushing hot buttons will make your sales soar.
