Home Office Insurance

The New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants recommends that you look at these three options for insuring your home-based business.

  1. A rider or an endorsement to your homeowner’s policy will protect your business equipment. This is the least expensive option, but it may not offer the coverage you require, particularly if you need liability protection.
  2. A combined policy insures your home and your business equipment, whether the equipment is used in your home or taken elsewhere. It also provides personal and business liability coverage.
  3. A business owner’s package includes property and liability coverage packaged with insurance for other perils, including accounts receivable coverage and loss of income coverage.

Free Minimum Wage Poster

The federal minimum wage increased to $5.85 per hour as of July 24, 2007. That means you might need an updated Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Minimum Wage Poster. If your employees are subject to the FLSA minimum wage provisions, you must display a poster explaining the Act. You can get one for free at http://www.dol.gov/esa/regs/compliance/posters/flsa.htm
