Nifty ideas you can use to build a better business

Recall Advantage

Small retailers might be able to use the recent product recalls to their advantage. Many consumers are now trying to avoid foreign-made products and are actively looking for products made in the U.S. If you’ve got those products, you should invest in marketing strategies that will let consumers know. Ramp up your search engine optimization using words such as “toys made in the USA” or “products made in the USA.” Use banners in your store windows to promote U.S.-made products. And don’t forget to tout “made in the USA” in all of your print advertising.

Referral Lead

A good client refers you to another business associate. So how do make the most of that first referral call? By leading off with the name of the person who referred you. Rather than opening your call with “Hi, my name is John Jones,” lead with the name that will get recognized. For example: “Sarah Martin said that your company might be interested in my products.” Then introduce yourself and your services. Name recognition can go a long way in making that first call a success.
