Brand Your Biz with Music

Big retailers like Target and Old Navy extend their brand identification with music by selling their own compilations of CDs to customers. But you don't have to be a mega-store to brand your biz through music. Companies that customize music collections for the big-league shops can do the same for your small business.

Here's how it works: You pay a music compilation company about $6 for a customized CD. The CD maker pays royalties to record companies and songwriters for the use of the music. Then you sell your shop's customized CD for about $10. You make a little profit on sales of the CDs. But more importantly, when customers listen to your CD at home, they think about your business.
