Better Yellow Pages Ads

Yellow pages ads aren't inexpensive. And they're not a one-shot deal; you commit to the same ad for a full 12 months. To make your display ad pull as much response as possible, forget splashing your business name and logo across the ad. Instead, create a dynamic, attention-grabbing headline that will make readers call you instead of the competition. A benefit-oriented headline will set you apart from the competitors -- most of whom simply run their name and logo. It will also tell potential customers why they should choose you -- better prices, more convenient times and locations, best service. A great headline gives your yellow pages ad pizzazz and pulling power.

Human Resources Help

If you haven't defined policies regarding sick leave, vacation time, bonuses and other employee issues, it may be time to order a human resources audit. These audits are conducted by human resources consultants who tidy up everything from job descriptions to termination policies. If you're interested in outsourcing the project, here are some suggestions.

Look for a consultant who will assess your company's specific needs and work closely with you to define policies. Also be sure that the consultant will produce a written employee handbook for your business. The handbook is generally created from a template. But make sure an attorney has reviewed the template. The review ensures that the finished handbook complies with the safety, anti-discrimination and other government-mandated work practices. Be prepared to pay about $3,000 for the whole process.
