Online and off-line stuff to make your business buzz
Online Angel Investors
You've probably heard about loans
available through the U.S. Small Business
Administration. But a lesser-known program,
Angel Capital Electronic Network (ACE-Net), may
be just what your fledging enterprise needs.
ACE-Net is sponsored by the SBA's Office of
Advocacy. It lets small businesses put their
funding requirements and biz plans on an
electronic network that's accessed by several
hundred angel investors nationwide. The fee for
the service is about $450, and it's available
only to corporations or limited liability
companies. Find out more by visiting

Women In Biz
The Center for Women's Business Research
reports that the number of women-owned firms
increased nationwide at twice the rate of all
firms between 1997 and 2002. Research shows
that women-owned businesses account for more
than one-third of firms in the United States.
These businesses spend close to $70 billion on
technology, and their owners believe that
gaining increased access to technology is a
key tactic for expanding their business. To
serve this burgeoning market, IBM recently
launched
The Women Business Owners portal. The site
provides access to special offers and business
resources from IBM and other organizations
focused on women business owners and
entrepreneurs. It also includes information on
IBM technology solutions for small businesses,
success stories, advice from other women
entrepreneurs and links to national
organizations such as the Center for Women's
Business Research.
