Nifty ideas you can use to build a better business

Downsizing Perks

With the economy limping along, your small business may be forced to cut costs by ditching some employee perks. Before you nix those in-house lunches or reduce employee bonuses, talk to your workers. Explain why your business must downsize perks so workers understand that you’re not just being a tightwad. Ask employees which perks should be the first to go. You might be surprised at which extras your workers value. And you might find that employees are full of other ideas for helping your business reduce costs.

Advertising Punch

Offering free information to potential customers is a great way to generate inquiries from your online or offline advertising. But packaging that free info in a compelling way can boost your response rate even more. For instance, give your promotional piece a title that reflects value. Instead of saying “send for free information,” a Web designer could invite prospects to send for the booklet “10 Tips to Better Web Sites.” Or an architect could offer “Space Design Ideas For Every Home.” By using provocative titles, you turn your promotional piece into something of value for potential customers.
