Know-how you need to succeed

Celebrity Endorsements

A celebrity endorsement can be a big boost for your small business. And you don’t necessarily need a national name to create awareness of your product or service. Just look around locally. Sportscasters, local sports heroes, news anchors and well-respected community leaders are just a few of the stars you can tap. Look for someone whose reputation closely matches the perception you’re trying to create. For instance, a local sports hero who graduated from college could enhance a product’s educational value. A local newscaster could give your services instant credibility.

Trade Show Publicity

You can perk up publicity for your trade show exhibit by establishing relationships with the media people who cover the event. First, contact the public relations or media person associated with the event organizer. Ask them for specific names of print, broadcast and online media representatives who will be covering the trade show. You may even be able to get contact information, such as e-mail or snail mail addresses. A few weeks before the show, send individual invitations to the media personnel. Ask them to be your guest for a private tour of your booth and exhibit offerings. You’ll be pleasantly surprised how many media personalities will take advantage of a private invitation. And even more surprised at the free publicity your business will garner.
