Vets For Hire

Small-biz owners in the market for new hires should take a look at candidates who recently left the military. They're skilled, disciplined workers, accustomed to working in teams and focusing on results. Some vets want part-time work because they'll be enrolling in college when they return to civilian life. According to www.Military.com, 40 percent of the candidates are highly trained in technical fields. And you'll have access to a diverse workforce: 40 percent of military members are minorities.

Retailing To The Rich

When a recent survey by the American Affluence Research Center asked America’s most affluent to name top quality retail outlets, there were some surprises in their answers. Retailers Costco, Home Depot, Nordstrom, Target and Wal-Mart led the list. Respondents said these retailers offered the best combination of quality products, product selection, fair prices and responsive service. What does that mean to your small business? Well, if you want to attract affluent Americans, give them what every customer really wants: quality products, fair prices and responsive service.

The survey also showed that in the past 12 months, 84 percent of the affluent used the Internet to buy products or services, or to conduct research before making a purchase. The semi-annual survey focused on the nearly 11 million households that represent the wealthiest 10 percent of all U.S. households. These households have a minimum net worth of $750,000.
