Nifty ideas you can use to build a better business

Letter Opener

If you want your promotional and sales letters to stand out from the crowd, ditch the traditional white envelope. Choose instead a colored envelope. Use one with texture. Or create an eye-catching design to print on the envelope. The better your envelope stands out, the better chance it has of getting opened.

Tips To Retain Employees

If you want to retain employees, be sure they understand the real worth of the compensation package you provide as an employer.

Give each employee an annual statement that includes not just the wages and taxes you pay, but also the dollar value of such perks as:

  • Employer-paid health insurance

  • Dependent care benefits

  • Vacation time

  • Sick leave

  • Paid holidays

  • Family leave time

  • Employer-paid retirement plan contributions

  • Workers’ compensation payments

  • Unemployment insurance

  • Employer-paid professional training

Also include the value of bonuses, profit sharing and any other aspects of the overall benefit package you provide. Present this statement to new employees as soon as they join your company. For existing employees, provide the statement during a performance review, at the beginning of the year or at the end of the year.
