Online Visitors Speak

Feedback from online visitors can help improve your small-business Web site. But visitors are fickle. They’ll only tell you what they think if you make it easy. Here are four things you can do to encourage visitor feedback:

  • Don’t require visitors to leave your site in order to leave feedback

  • Let users provide feedback with a single mouse click

  • Put your feedback button on every page of your Web site

  • Locate the feedback button in the same place on all of your pages

Military Talk

When you interview former military personnel for a job opening, be careful with questions about the person’s service. An inappropriate question could leave you open to a lawsuit. It’s OK to ask what kind of education and training the individual received in the military. It’s also safe to ask what types of job-related experiences the person received while serving in the military. But don’t ask what kind of discharge the individual received. That’s a legal no-no.
