Nifty ideas you can use to build a better business

Forgotten Resolutions

The New Year’s resolutions sounded good at the time: increase profits, reduce costs, sell more. But experts say that by the 10th week of each new year, most people feel like failures in adhering to their resolutions. Don’t despair.

Instead, look over your resolution list and pick just the top two. Now focus on those and let the rest wait. You’re more likely to succeed by choosing just two major resolutions as your top priorities. Once you accomplish those, pick two more. You’ll reach more goals. You’ll gain confidence as you meet your goals. And by the end of 2004, you may have worked your way through your entire resolution list.

A Stronger Call To Action

Increase traffic to your Web site with this tip: a strong call to action. Don’t simply invite potential customers to “visit” your site for more information about your products or services. Give them a compelling reason to go to your site. For instance, in marketing e-mails or direct mail your call to action might read: Go to our Web site where you can:

  • Save on close-out items

  • Enter your name for a free giveaway

  • Get a free gift with orders over $25

  • Sign up for discount coupons

  • Receive free shipping this week only
