GET CONNECTED TIPS
Nifty ideas you can use to build a better business

Voice Mail Tips

The automated voice mail system your small business uses might be turning off potential customers. To make sure your system offers service instead of annoyance, follow these five tips:

  1. Keep your greeting short

  2. Make your greeting professional, not cutesy

  3. Early in the voice mail process, give callers the option of getting a human voice on the line

  4. Present the most popular menu options first

  5. Call your own voice mail system often to see how it’s working

Reference Checks

A recent survey by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) found that 96 percent of organizations conduct some type of background or reference check on job candidates. And those checks revealed plenty of inconsistencies in candidates’ resumes. Survey respondents said the most common inconsistencies included:

  • Dates of previous employment

  • Criminal records

  • Former job titles

  • Past salaries
