The exhibit floors of trade shows make great places to mine new customers. And you don’t have to shell out cash to rent display space. Just show up as an attendee and put your networking skills to work.

When you’re sleuthing for the right show, look for those that offer conferences and seminars to accompany the exhibits. Those events will you give an opportunity to meet and greet other attendees who might be potential prospects.

Also search out industry-specific shows that complement your business. For instance, if you sell auto accessories, check out car shows. If you’re a computer consultant, spend some time at a technology show where you’re sure to meet small-business owners looking for tech solutions.”
