3: Attract Traffic To Your Web Site
You dont need a large
stash of cash or a bulging advertising budget
to draw potential customers to your Web site.
But to do more than simply get your site
listed on the search engines, you do need a
little time, creativity and know-how.
Tony L. Callahan, an
Internet promotions consultant and president
of Link-Promote, admits that theres no
magic bullet to bring the global masses
storming to your Web site. But he does offer
these proven methods for promoting your site
available at little or no cost:
-
Develop
direct e-email: This is the most
effective way of promoting your Web site,
contends Callahan. With the proliferation
of free e-mail services such as Hotmail,
many people are choosing direct e-mail as
their primary means of Web site promotion.
One reason for direct e-mails
effectiveness is that everyone who
receives your message will read the
subject line. No other form of commercial
promotion can make such a claim. A catchy
subject line can guarantee a high
percentage of recipients will open you
message.
-
Display
your URL: Put your e-mail address and
Web site URL on all of your companys
print literature, letterhead and display
advertising. Dont forget to also
include it on billing statements and
invoices. If you provide people a means to
find out more about your products or
services in a low-pressure way, many will
do so and some of those will become
loyal customers.
-
Advertise
in e-zines: E-zines usually reach
specific, targeted markets. With targeted
advertising, Ive experienced on the
order of 7-percent response rate with 40
percent of those making purchases,
explains Callahan. The readers of the
e-zines were pre-qualified as interested
in my products. Higher interest equals
higher sales percentage.
