Article 1: Know Your Target Market
Get off on the right foot with the No. 1
low-cost marketing tip: Know your target market.
Otherwise, you’re doomed.
The business that pretends “everybody is our
market” will spend itself into bankruptcy.
Knowing your target market is the best low-cost
approach because it is the most cost-effective.
If you spend a dime of your marketing budget
trying to persuade people outside your target
market, you’ve wasted that dime. It’s absolutely
indispensable to know your buyers and
prospective buyers. The better you know them,
the more effectively you can talk to them and
not waste time (and money) talking to the wrong
people.
That’s what marketing is: an ongoing discussion
with your customers – hearing what they want and
telling them you have it. Marketing is not
trying to talk to the uninterested.
Know your target market. Nothing will save you
as much or make you as much. |
