Startup Rules For Home-Based Businesses
By Mark Landsbaum

Running a business out of your home used to carry the same connotation as selling TVs out of your car’s trunk. It just didn’t seem right.

No longer. Solo entrepreneurs now operate full-fledged, bono fide businesses out of the comfort and convenience of their homes.

But, a home business is still a business. Like businesses everywhere, there are rules.

As we discuss the basic rules, you will notice many apply regardless of whether your business is in your bedroom or a high-rise. But that’s precisely the point. Businesses require certain fundamentals, and operating a business out of your home does not exempt you from fundamentals. In fact, it can impose additional considerations you may not have anticipated, but must also take into account.
